Another Colossal Fail Just Around The Corner [Shorter Question Everything]

So far, every reaction Romney has taken has fallen flat. Not only flat, but embarrassingly flat. His attempts to attack Obama’s strengths by portraying them as weaknesses have only shown how weak those attempts are. Empty stadium? Not so much. Romney, on the other hand, can only draw a ‘crowd’ when he buses one in from a Mormon school. Unemployment? The number’s not great but it does highlight that the best unemployment numbers have come from Democratic administrations. Grenell? Failed leadership. The ‘shame’ regarding China’s dissident? That dissident is now going to be going to school in the US. And I don’t think the swift boating will prove any more effective. I smell another colossal fail just around the corner.

• The so called empty arena wasn’t empty at all. Over 14,000 people showed up in Columbus to kick off Obama’s reelection campaign.

• Rom says unemp shld be 4%. I was Sec of Lab last time it was 4%. We got there by raising taxes on rich and investing in ed and infrstructre. — Robert Reich @RBReich

• Romney’s slowness to comment amid the noise since Grenell’s resignation raises questions about his principles, as well as the quality and depth of his leadership.

Republicans Swift Boat President Obama — Are We Surprised?: As expected, the swift boating of the President has begun and will likely continue until Election Day. God forbid Mitt Romney would actually engage on the issues. No, he just lets his surrogates make attack ads like this one which, by the way, do not mention any specific Navy SEAL with an objection but simply contend that SEALs object. How convenient. Here are some facts you should know about the Veterans for a Strong America, the 501(c)(4) non-profit group sponsoring the ad, via MoJo [crooksandliars/karoli/05 May 2012]

Israeli Leader Expected to Declare Early Elections: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to announce Sunday night that he’ll dissolve parliament to hold early elections, a move designed to fend off domestic critics and perhaps put him in a stronger position to act against Iran. NYPD Using Sexual Assault as Law Enforcement Tool?: Arbitrary violence is nothing new. The apparently systematic use of sexual assault against women protestors is new. I’m not aware of any reports of police intentionally grabbing women’s breasts before March 17, but on March 17 there were numerous reported cases, and in later nightly evictions from Union Square, the practice became so systematic that at least one woman told me her breasts were grabbed by five different police officers on a single night (in one case, while another one was blowing kisses.) The tactic appeared so abruptly, is so obviously a violation of any sort of police protocol or standard of legality, that it is hard to imagine it is anything but an intentional policy. Arizona bans funding to Planned Parenthood in abortion fight: PHOENIX – Arizona Governor Jan Brewer on Friday signed into law a bill banning abortion providers like Planned Parenthood from receiving money through the state, her office said in a statement. The Republican-backed Whole Woman’s Health Funding Priority Act cuts off funding for family planning and health services delivered by Planned Parenthood clinics and other organizations offering abortions….officials at Planned Parenthood Arizona, the state’s largest abortion provider, said the law means that thousands of women in the state may now go without life-saving cancer screenings, birth control and basic health care. • “He is obsessed with this,” she says, adding that he asked her to move to New Zealand with him for the sake of her kids. “I will not chase him to the other side of the world so he can be a part-time father to children he created with other women… He says he created these children and he has a responsibility to them. I said ‘What about your commitment to your wife?’ He walked out.
